Brief Answer:
you can take antacids and milk

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the query and understood your concern.

You can take antacids and even milk but not at the time of consuming doxycycline as chelation can take place preventing the absorption of drug. During other time you can take antacids or milk.

If chest pain is severe or any variation in BP then you need evaluation for this. If the chest pain is due to reflux gastro esophageal disorder then antacid or protin pump inhibitor like pantoprazole with anti emetic like domperidone will help you. If due to cardiorespiratory problem then needs examination once.

I hope this information helps you and answered your questions. Feel free to ask for any further queries. I will be glad to answer them.

Wish you good health and faster recovery.

Brief Answer:
Cipro.12 hours apart.slight variation is acceptabl

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

you need to wait for atleast 1 hour after taking doxycycline. By 1 hour most of the the drug will be absorbed into plasma. Even slightly reduction of absorption due to food won't affect much.

With cipro its twice daily dose and hence should be taken at 12 hour intervals. A slight variations of 30 min to an hour may be acceptable. As far as possible avoid changing antibiotics before its complete course.

I hope this information helps you and answered your questions. Feel free to ask if any further queries.

Wish you faster recovery and good health.

Brief Answer:
if infection not severe, stop drug. rechallenge

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The drug loratidine is an antihistamine and will help in reducing the symptoms. Good that you started this drug.

The cause may be allergic reaction to any one of the drugs. The allergic reaction to doxycycline is more compared to cipro. But we cannot tell which drug is allergic to you without re challenge. So my advise is to stop doxycycline and if allergic symptoms comes with cipro then stop both.

Or if the infection is not severe stop both the drugs till the symptoms subside and later can restart with any one drug with your doctor's advice.
For Urinary tract infection you can take any one antibiotic. I usually prefer ofloxacillin because of lesser side effects and is similar to cipro.

I hope this information helps you. If reactions are severe then needs immediate consultation.

Wish you faster recovery.

Brief Answer:
penicillin group of drugs. ofloxacillin

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Considering your age there is a rare chance of tendinitis or tendon rupture or myositis with cipro and the doxycycline can cause hypersensitivity. And since you already presented with reactions, if you are not allergic to penicillin group of drugs then you can ask for penicillins or cephalosporins as they are safer alternative. If they want to select cipro or doxycycline then oflox is better than cipro interms of side effects.

For now you can take loratidine twice daily and can stop it if there is no reaction.

You can discuss the same with your doctor.

Hope this information helps you. If any further information feel free to ask me.

Wish you good health.
