Suggest Treatment For Headaches, Nausea And Dizziness

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Nov 2016
Question: For several days upon awakening, I have had a bad headache, dizzyness/feeling of being off balance, and nausea. It subsides in 2-3 hours usually. This morning I did not have the headache, but still the dizzy feeling and nausea. When walking I feel like I'm off balance and I feel shaky inside. My BP has ranged around 130/80s to 156/90s. I am not on any medications and the only glitch in recent blood work was my cholesterol was 260 (LDL 100). I have a history of vertigo in the past, but this seems different with the extended period of nausea.

Brief Answer:
I would recommend performing some tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully passed through your question and would explain that your symptoms could be related to different causes:

- a wrong position during sleep
- a sinus infection
- intracranial hypertension due to a brain lesion.

For this reason, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a sinus X ray study
- a cervical spine X ray for possible chronic degenerations which may trigger this symptomatology
- a complete blood count
- kidney and liver function tests.

A brain CT scan may be necessary to exclude an intracranial lesion causing possible intracranial hypertesion. It would also give more information on your sinuses.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

DR. Iliri
