Suggest Treatment For Headaches, Blurred Vision And Body Tremors

Posted on Fri, 14 Aug 2015
Question: I am a 43 yr old female and I've been having headaches for 2 months. I recently started having blurred vision and my body jerks as well...I had a MRI done and the report says that there are multiple foci of increased t2 and IR signal intensities involving the subcortical and deep white matter. Given the patients age, the differential includes microischemic changes versus a demyelinating process such as MS...I had an ANA COMP PANEL done that came back positive and a Urinalysis that showed I have an UTI....I'm concerned as to what all of this may mean, and what I need to do because my Primary Care isn't telling me anything

Brief Answer:
Most probable diagnosis multiple sclerosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

According to your symptoms, your age and MRI findings, most probable diagnosis in your case is Multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disease that attacks nerve sheaths.

ANA results positive can be related to this autoimmune condition.

UTI has nothing to do with your symptoms and MRI findings.

You should consult a Neurologist because there is need for further evaluation/exclusion of this diagnosis and start of treatment ( neurologic examination, spinal tap for cerebrospinal fluid examination).

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Wishing you good health.

Thank you for your prompt response.. May I also ask if there is anyway the MRI findings can represent Huntington's Chorea because it runs in my family... Also, being that it's the weekend and I can't see a neurologist, should I go to the emergency room if this sharp pain in my head and limbs continue? It feels like I'm being hit with electricity(that's best way I can describe it) I have an overall I'll feeling.

Brief Answer:
MRI changes in XXXXXXX only in later stages.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

MRI in XXXXXXX disease may reveal structural changes at particular sites in the brain, but only in later stages of disease.

If your symptoms are debilitating and uncontrollable by over-the-counter painkillers, you could go to ER to get treated.

Hope I helped you. Best regards.
