Question: Im 33 and have lyme disease was bit at the age of 7 and put on antibiotics right away. At first about a year ago I had to go to e.r with severe joint stiffness and a swollen lymph node under my left arm pit they gave me a shot of steroids due to the fact I was still breast feeding. Im no longer breast feeding but I have gone to the e r 3 times this year because now I have something where my neck is that throbs on the same side left side only and I get bad headaches from it head pain and my ear pops well in the er they 1st did a cat scan and said I was fine it was migraines. so then I followed up with my primary and she sent me for labs and an ultrasound for my thyroid then I went to my nuero and he sent me to get and ultrasound on my neck vessel just went to er last night because it got really bad they did a x ray and said all they see is where my neck muscle is having a spasm and where its trying to straigten out? so they gave me a shot of muscle relaxer. Im wondering if I should be concerned because it seems as though none of my doctors want to do lab work for an bacetria infection. The er told me if my lymph node was swollen they would have seen it on the x ray? What should I do It gets pretty painful sometimes and I feel helpless :(

Brief Answer:
Naproxen and juicy fruits

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on healthcaremagic. I have gone carefully through the details provided by you. You are probably suffering from migraine which is a painful as well as disturbing situation that is not otherwise evident on lab work or radiology and since your doctors suspect the same, they are not keen on investigating further. It is unlikely to be related to an infection and indeed lymph node enlargement would have been present and revealed on x ray. Sometimes neck muscle spasm can be associated and adding to your problems. It is often associated with electrolyte imbalance. Take juicy fruits including citrus fruits. Take naproxen 500 mg one or two tablets together as per your requirement but in full stomach and that will help in relieving your head throbbing and paining. The other thing you will have to do is to relax.
