Question: I have been recently diagnosed with frontal fibrosis alopecia. Looking for treatments to slow the process of my hair falling out. I read that oral prednisone may help? Any insight or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Brief Answer:
Minoxidil the treatment of choice

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

The best and the more efficient treatment for alopecia its minoxidil 5% solution (twice daily) or minoxidil 5% foam (once daily).

I just checked the recommendations and a local steroid cream its not mentioned, but thats maybe because of the cause of alopecia in your case, which I suspect may be an eczema.

I cannot say to not use it if your doctor has recommended so. But minoxidil its the medications used for alopecia. There are other treatments too like spironolactone, cyproterone acetate, finasteride, and flutamide, that have proven efficient if different people when minoxidil doesn't work.

Hope this is helpful.
