Suggest Treatment For Hair Loss And Male Pattern Baldness

default
Posted on Sat, 19 Nov 2016
Question: Hello Doctor

I consulted you earlier regarding hair loss (male pattern baldness). I started taking Minoxidil 5% solution along with Fenasteride since 1st December 2015. Pls see the last pictures and the current pictures. However I stopped taking the medicine after 18th XXXXXXX and seldom use lotion twice a day. Though you told me it should be consumed for atleast 10-12 months to see the results.

I don't think it has worked actually. Can you confirm if its all going correct.

Brief Answer:
Remedy for male pattern hair loss

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thank you. I have reviewed the images.
The recomendation is to give a fair trial of 1-2 years of treatment with finasteride and minoxidil. Used together they work much better than either of them used alone. I suggest you to be patient and continue with the treatment.
Please remember that the goal of treatment is to slow or arrest progression of hair loss. Regrowth varies from patient to patient and may not be complete!
You may benefit from sessions of PRP therapy in addition to the above.

Brief Answer:
Finasteride is safe and approved for use in male pattern hair loss

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Finasteride is US FDA approved for androgenetic alopecia in males. It can have sexual side effects in 1-2% of individuals like decrease in libido but this side effect is temporary. Most affected individuals do not experience these side effects on continued treatment with finasteride.
PRP cannot be done at home. It involves steps like platelet enrichment of extracted blood which is done by centrifuging at high speed in a lab and subsequent injection of platelet rich plasma into the affected areas.

Brief Answer:
A lot of dermatologists do PRP

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

These days a lot of dermatologists do PRP. It is very common procedure although I don't have any specific reference. You may visit a dermatologist in your region and inquire about the availability of PRP. I am sure you will find out about that easily.
