Question: I a a 63 year old woman who has had several set backouts over the past few years. Three years ago I was diagnoised Gluten intolerant, with this my teeth have had to have a lot of work. In the middle of all this,I broke my wrist and have begun sleep walking. I now have a sore toe, which came back neg for goutl. I hit my toe one night and it hurt so bad,I feel oback and hit my back on the bathroom doorjam. Now the doctor says she wants me to see a rumitoligist and a cardiiolisit for an enlarged heart. I had an EKG done last summer and all was okay. I feel like they are all grasping at straws and I have lingering infection from alll that has happened.
What direction would you recommend?

Dear: thanks for using our service . I will try to answer all the questions that you have. First, you have Gluten intolerance for which is recommended a Gluten free diet to avoid problems . Some patients with gluten deficiency can experience bone and joint pain, so it is important to have this in your mind. In terms of the recommendation to see a rheumatologist, it is a good advise because you might need a rheumatological workup up to evaluate the possibility of connective tissue disease, a generalized inflammation of the body tissues that can give your symptoms. The referral for the cardiologist is due to risk factors of coronary disease in a patient who is older than 60 years old. However, if you don't have any cardiac symptoms and any other medical condition as diabetes and high cholesterol, you might weight to see a cardiologist, specially with a normal electrocardiogram.
I hope my answers will help you
