Question: I am a 47 year old female with a 22 year history of genital herpes. I am worried I may have systemic herpes or hsv encephalitis. Symptoms are as follows: thur 2/19 severe stiff neck (I do have advanced arthritis of the neck) 2/20 developed migraine like headache with nausea lasted fri. 2/20 and 2/21. Also accompanying the headache were painfull pinpricked sensations and tingling sensations as well as dizziness. Assumed this was some type of cervicogenic migraine due to my neck issues. Some relief came late evening 2/21. 2/22 sun...slight headache. Approximately sometime Saturday afternoon developed severe groin pain, lower back pain numbness and tingling in the groin and shooting nerve pain down my legs and broke out with one vesicular lesion on labia. My concern and question is could this be systemic form hsv2 ...I have no fever.

Brief Answer:
No.This is not systemic herpes. Most likely linked to the cervical arthriti

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. This is very unlikely to represent any form of systemic herpes. It is really very very far from that. Be relaxed about this.

I have reviewed the information fully and there are no reasons to suspect that this is likely related to a systemic herpes. Systemic herpes would not go without fever. Also, you would have experienced severe headaches and neurological symptoms as this is common with HSV encephalitis.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
