Suggest Treatment For Gas And Shooting Pain In Lower Abdomen
Question: I've had a whole lot of gas in the last two weeks, as well as occasional shooting pains in my lower abdomen. I am a 50 year old woman. I don't smoke or drink and I'm healthy, as far as I know. I had a hysterectomy about 10 years ago, as well as an emergency appendectomy about 9 years ago. I have not had any trouble or pain until now. I worry that something might be wrong with my intestines. Is that possible? What could be wrong?

Hello-
Answers to your questions:
1) I have some diarrhea in the morning
2)I have not changed my dietary habits
3)I am not eating large amounts of dairy products
It does not hurt constantly, but at times there is a sharp, shooting pain in my lower abdomen, and it feels like it's behind my bladder.
Thanks for your help.

Brief Answer:
Advice to consume probiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for following up with me.
From the symptoms that you have specified and the answers given to my question I feel it looks like dyspepsia.
I would like to give you certain advice so as to reduce the stated problems.
1. Eat and chew your food slowly. Eating fast cause swallowing of large amount of air causing excessive gas and belching also.
2. Avoid aerated drinks, artificial sweeteners and chewing gums.
3. Most important you should start taking ‘probiotics’ sachets twice a day which contains the good bacteria which are normally present in our gut which helps to digest the remaining food reaching colon and reduce gas formation.
Probiotics such as – Enterogermina, Sporolac are available widely in pharmacy which you can take twice a day. They are available in XXXXXXX form and also tablet form. Take which is preferable for you, both are equally efficient. I think it will help you considerably.
You can even include in your diet ‘yogurt’ which is a naturally available probiotic.
The pain you are talking about must be due to excessive distension that happens due to gas formation which must be getting relieved after you pass the flatus.
I hope I answered your question satisfactorily. If you have any more query kindly write back to me, will be happy to help you out.
Thank you.
