Question: I have OAB. Taking Myrbetriq. I am prone to bladder infections. However several times per month I have something else happening. Frequent urination with instant urge, and the urine seems to be more clear than usual. Urine test shows nothing. Very frustrating, cannot make it to restroom in time. I am 54 years old.

Brief Answer:
It sounds like the medication you are taking is not being totally effective

Detailed Answer:
thank you so much for asking your question on health-care Magic. I will do my best to help you.

overactive bladder can be very difficult to treat. in your case since it sounds like there is no infection when you have the symptoms it sounds like the medication you are taking is not doing the job as well as it should. This is actually quite common as the medications for overactive bladder, even the best ones, can sometimes only be 20 to 40% effective.

You may have already tried many of these things but if you haven't some things that can be helpful include bladder retraining and physical therapy or trying other medications that sometimes might work better for you.

If all of these things have not worked for you then you probably need to look for something more aggressive. There is a device that electronically stimulates the bladder and helps relieve the urgency called interstim. it may be worthwhile talking to your doctor to determine if this would be appropriate for you.

Other types of nerve stimulation and Botox are also available. If you fail medications and there are no infections and your work up has revealed that there are no other obvious causes for this problem then those more aggressive therapies are probably the best option for you. They are usually more effective than using medication alone.

I hope this helps you please let me know if you have anymore questions.
