Posted on Tue, 8 Nov 2016
Question: My armpit has been very very dry (i assume from my roll on deoderant) and recently has started flaking and now turned into open sores. I was wondering if this looked like a fungal or vacterial infection at all? Or any othee causes of it. Thank you!

Brief Answer:
I've had a look at the picture.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
welcome to HCM.

I've had a look at the picture you have sent. It looks to me like a fungal infection. It may also be allergic contact dermatitis. Do you have any other symptoms like itching, stinging, etc?

I suggest that you first shave off your hair and then apply an anti fungal cream with steroid and antibiotic in it (triple action) three times a day. Continue for a week even after it completely clears. Rarely, you may require oral tablets also if it does not heal quickly with local cream alone.

Check with your dermatologist or family physician for exact diagnosis.

Hope to have you better. Regards
