Question: I am 72 and suffer with fibromylgia and RA pain. I would like to find a pain management pill without the opiods.

You should take paracetamol.

Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your question.

Well looking into your problem I will suggest you to take paracetamol as it is relatively safer for kidney considering your age. I saw that you are already taking naproxen which is anti-inflammatory drug, so whenever you feel excess pain you can top up with paracetamol. However for fibromyalgia, I would suggest amitryptilline or fluoxetine. These are not pain medications; but it will allow you manage this pain without need for pain medications.

You can talk to your treating doctor regarding this and follow his advise. Any other issues please ask.
