Brief Answer:
Time and patience are needed to completely recover...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your grandson is going through.

1. From what you are describing it seems that your grandson has had acute viral gastroenteritis. Vomiting, diarrhea are the most common symptoms together with fever.

2. The symptoms will last depending on their severity; usually, the full recovery will be for 3 weeks or more. However, if the symptoms were severe, and he has suffered of severe dehydration, then, he will need more time to recover.

3. Bacterial infection is often associating a viral infection, explaining his high fever. Antibiotics will help fight this infection.

4. The pain he is having is because he has stayed laid down in bed for a few days and because he has lost electrolytes with vomiting, diarrhea and fever.

The pain will be over after the infection is completely cured and the lost balance of electrolytes will be replaced again. You need to have patience and follow his doctor's advice accordingly.

Wish fast recovery!
