Posted on Tue, 13 Sep 2016
Question: Iam 63 years of age, suffering bouts of fluish, extreme fatigue, aches in joints, occasional glands under my ears ache, chills. I take naps but can't feel refreshed. I will have good days symptom free. The symptoms Started after Prolonged emotional stress. Could I have chronic fatigue syndrome? I have had symptoms since November 2015. I feel so awkward and uncomfortable going to a physician because I don't like to complain about symptoms, but it's making my life so difficult. Iam on Prozac, lisinopril and a statin. I had mono when I was 20, know it's not that but that is what it feels like. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
Should be evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
This could be Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
However other possiblities should be rules out before stating this.
So, I would recommend you to go for:
1. Complete blood count.
2. Thyroid profile.
3. Fasting blood sugar.
4. Calcium and Vitamin D levels.

If any issues are found , it would be evaluated and treated.
Other wise you would be treated for CFS or related illness.
Since you are already on Prozac , I would consider a increase in dose or addition of Pregabalin for a wonderful relief.

Exercises, meditation are highly recommended.

I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
