Suggest Treatment For Fatigue, Cold And Cough In A Child

Question: my daughter is two years old, weighs 14 kgs. she is suffering from cold and cough since last two months. in november she was givenSOLVIN COLD AF 3ml thrice a day and ASTHALIN 3ml thrice a day and syrup AZITHRAL 3ml thrice a day. after fifteen days, the doctor changed the medications considering her condition and gave microcef , Muffle D, Crux and Ibugesic as she was having high fever.
On dec,9,2015 she was again taking Muffle D and Crux. she felt relief for a week and a then had a runny nose and mild coughing. withing two days her coughing worsened, especially at night.
after examination, the doctor suggested she is allergic and prescribed MONTAIR LC , BANOCID and CLAVPOD along with SERFLOW INHALER. During this treatment, her condition continued to worsen, again especially at night. she had continous coughing with phlegm, resulting in vomiting and blocked nose..
we took an emergency appointment with a regional doctor who diagnosed my daughter with allergic brochitis. he prescribed MONTAIR LC 5ml once a day, OMNACORTIL 9ml thrice a day for seven days, CETROP 5ml three times , LEVOLIN INHALER thrice a day, syrup ASCORIL LS 5ml thrice a day to be given for one week. with this she showed slow recovery.
on XXXXXXX 8th,2016 the doctor stopped all medications and gave Azythromycin as she had throat infection. the very next day she again showed the previous symptoms of frequent coughing, phlegm and vomiting. she even had slight weightloss and much sweating.
yesterday he started the same course of medicines OMNACORTIL 10ml thrice a day, CETROP 5ml thrice a day, MONTAIR LC 5ml at night and LEVOLIN INHALER thrice a day, for seven days.

My concern is why is my daughter not getting better after such a long treatment and what are the side effects of these medicines?
she is getting weaker and irritable, and cries when she coughs.

I have gone very carefully through your query. There is a condition called bronchiolitis which affects children between 6 months to 3 years of age. It seems that your child is suffering from this condition. It is a viral infection and some children are prone to getting repeated infections. Your doctor seems to have done all that could be done.

I would insist you to get a home nebulizer. Take 2 ml of normal saline (0.9% NaCl) and give her nebulizations as required when she has such episodes. If there is associated noisy breathing or wheezing, add a respule of 0.32 Levolin (prescription medicine) to the saline solution. Give Montair LC off and on once daily as needed during such episodes. I do not think that any other medicine is needed.

You need to be patient.

Thanks for the quick response.
I had one more doubt. Should I continue the course of medicines because the doctor prescribed them for one week.
Also is there an allergy test for kids so that we can know whats exactly causing these episodes?
