Suggest Treatment For Facial Numbness And Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Jun 2017
Question: I recently had a ultra sound done on my heart and carotid arteries as I was having numbness in my left face. The results show I have an Aortic Root Dilation ICD 10. 106.1 at 4.3 cms. My family Doctor says we should just monitor this to make sure it does not get bigger. I also suffer from lower back pain. Stomach pain and twitchy nerves. I am concerned that these issues may be caused by the aortic dilation. Or am I just being paranoid?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

I understand your concern and would like to explain that a mild aortic root dilation as in your case could not explain your lower back pain, stomach pain or twitchy nerves.

So relax!

It is also important to investigate the anatomic structure of the rest of aorta (aortic arch, descending thoracic aorta, abdominal aorta) and be sure that everything is OK.

In addition any possible backbone degenerative disorders should be excluded as well.

Coming to this point, if the actual complaints persist, I would recommend performing some additional imagine tests, such as:

- abdominal ultrasound,
-thoracic-abdominal CT

You should discuss with your doctor on the above mentioned issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further uncertainties, feel free to ask me again.

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
