Suggest Treatment For Excessive Gas Formation In The Lower Abdomen

default
Posted on Wed, 14 Dec 2016
Question: Hi

I am having major gas problem, I feel it in mostly lower part of my abdomen....

The issue is so major that gas blocks my shit every time. The first bowel movement of the day is totally fine but I get feeling of incomplete bowel movement.

After that no matter how much force I apply, I can't get the next shit out of my ass. But if I move my body in such a way that the gas moves inside my stomach, then the shit comes after the blast of gas.

So I wanna say that every time some gas burst there comes the shit next to it. Gas blocks my shit at different-different intervals. So I need to go to washroom for whole day.

This also causes smell problem as I the shit blocked by gas stays at the bottom of my ass.

I don't know which problem is this. Is it a gas problem or some other problem.

I have recently visited a gastroenterologist and he prescribed me Bravo DSR for gas problems. But there is no relief to the problem. He prescribed it for 10 days and if no relief is there, he suggested for Colonscopy.....

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX looks like you have irritable bowel

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM
Thank you for your query
I understand your concern
Possibly you have a irritable bowel
It is accompanied by excess gas formation in tummy
Worthwhile getting some basic tests like hemoglobin thyroid function test stool examination and a colonoscopy to rule out other associated conditions though they are likely to be normal
To reduce your symptoms can try following things
Drink plenty of water
Go for regular brisk walk
Avoid excess fiber in diet as it increases gas
Ensure proper eating and sleeping time
Sleep at least 8hrs a day
Can take stool softners like cremaffin for few days may be 15 ml a day which is available over the counter and see how you feel
Sometimes you may have to be prescribed some special medication to reduce the sensitivity of stomach
Hope this answers your questions
Wish you a speedy recovery
Happy to help

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Good to hear from you!

1) The problem basically started around 8 months back (March this year). I started getting watery stools, and a feeling of incomplete bowels.
2)For that I visited a general first doctor, for which he gave me some infection medicines for 10 days but there was no relief.
3) After that I visited second doctor, he told me to get Jaundice test as he saw my years were yellowish. I was under his regular treatment for nearly one month, he was giving some gas medicines and Liv 52 etc (not any high power medicines). He also told me for USG Abdomen, in which I found mildly Enlarged spleen and liver. After around 1 and a half month I stopped his treatment.
4) Now this time I visited a specialist- gastro for my problem and came to know about XXXXXXX Syndrome. But that's not a major issue to me.
5) I visited another gastro and he told me everything is fine and also during this time I came to know about Thalassemia Minor, but that's also not a major issue to me.

Current Problems:-

1) So I got with all these uploaded tests during my investigation of my problems under different- different doctors. But let me tell you I didn't got any relief to my two major problems that are:-

Problem while sitting- I feel some sensations at my ass while sitting. I feel my ass watery but when I touch my ass there is no water. So I find it very difficult while sitting.

Smell Problem- These days this problem is on its high, and I lost all my confidence in getting between people due to bad smell from my ass, but when I touch there is no smell on my fingers so it must be coming form somewhere inside asshole.

2) Sometimes I have problem of sour eructation.
When I eat something I get burps. Also sometimes I get gas bloating in my lower abdomen.
Yes, I feel dryness in my mouth.
No vomiting loss of appetite. In fact there is no impact on my hunger, I can eat very well now also, but I am not eating of my capacity due to increased bowel frequencies.

As I my eating a lot of soluble fibre these days I am getting soft stools, but there was a time when I was getting so hard stools that I need to use my fingers to remove them.

So basically my problem is that shit gets blocked by gas and everytime the gas burst shit comes next to it and stays at the bottom of ass which makes me uncomfortable while sitting, So I need to go washroom for that bowel movement.

I don't know where that smell comes from, Do we have smell problems in Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

My major problem is of smell, I f you can help me on this problem it will be a huge relief for me for now.
Also two more symptoms are there:-

1) reflux- Many times, Even a long time after eating I get food coming out with the long burp into my mouth.

2) After I am done with whole bowel movement of the day ( which may vary fro 4 -6 times), I get a sticky substance at the end of stools.

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Hi not much to worry

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your query
Well possibly you have acidity dyspepsia and excess gas production in addition heightened sensitivity to gas release
It is imprortant to undergo the tests and instructions I mentioned above
In addition worthwhile getting an gastroenterology review in which he might consider adding some medications to reduce the sensitivity and gas production
Also excess fiber consumption might help Constipation but can increase the gas production.
So can take mild laxative like cremaffin available over the counter for few days and see how you feel
Best wishes

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for your reply.
I have seen acidity dyspepsia symptoms but most of the symptoms doesn't match to conditions like I have no loss of appetite. One symptom which matches to my condition is excess gas formation.

I have attached my Thyroid test report as suggested by you previously.

Also My major problem is dirty rotten smell from ass all time, which I am not able to find in the symptoms of any disease.

Are you sure I don't have Irritable BOWEL Syndrome.

I have started eating sprouts(moong dal) these days, is it good.
Can I eat Amla, will it help somehow.

I will get Colonscopy done by the end of this week.

Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Hi

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Your some symptoms do overlap with irritable bowel syndrome too
Worthwhile getting an colonoscopy done too
Dirty smell in flatus is a part of symptoms which do not fit into any particular syndrome it's just variation in content of gas which causes these symptoms so do not worry try and neglect it.
Excess sprouts can cause excess gas so can limit its use
Amla should not be a problem
