Suggest Treatment For Excessive Discharge From Both Eyes

default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jul 2015
Question: I am having excessive discharge out of both my eyes. It is yellow/green in color and accumulates in the corner or beneath my bottom eyelid. Even after clearing the pus, it returns shortly after. My eyes are not red nor do they itch. What is the cause and what can I do to fix?

Brief Answer:
It can be because of chronic conjunctivitis or chronic dacryocystitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your questions.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having discharge from the eyes.
The common causes that needs to be ruled out are conjunctivitis and chronic dacryocystitis.

In conjunctivitis the eyes will be red and show some symptoms like itching, watering, but in long standing chronic cases only discharge can be there.

Dacryocystitis in chronic variety presents with watering and discharge and it is because of obstruction to the flow of tears and infection.

The treatment for both is initially by the use of antibiotic eye drops.

Hence I would like to advice you to start antibiotic eye drops like Moxifloxacin eye drops and do consult your eye doctor for evaluation to find out the underlying cause and further treatment depending on the cause.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

I am now waking to no pus accumulation. Is a trip to the doctor still necessary? The issue comes and goes.

Thank you for the follow up question.

Since you are not having pus accumulation you can use antibiotic eye drops like Moxifloxacin eye drops 1-2 times a day for 1 week.
