Question: Hi Doctor.

I am a male and i am 32 years old. Till now i am not under any medications. We are planning for our second baby and we did not have any problem with our first baby's birth. Doctor adviced us to have relation during 10-20 days of her periods and till 16th day there was no problem on our relation. When we tried to intercourse on 18th day(28th april), i felt no erection in my penis and this is continuing till today. I am really worried about this and please advice me on this. We are trying for baby for past 2 months and my wife is also 32 years old. I use to drink monthly once and smoke twice or thrice per week.

Brief Answer:
no need to worry, give your self try without apprehension

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

I can understand your concern.

3 days are not sufficient to diagnose erectile dysfunction according to criteria.

You are young and already able to do intercourse till 26th April. Only 5 days has been passed and you have failed in these days. It happens to anyone. There are many physiological factors like mood, tiredness, stress, fatigue, hormonal changes as well as some environmental factors which affect erection. This is normal that sometime erection is not possible though person wishes.

And I am somewhat disagree with advice of your doctor. The most chances of pregnancy occurs when successful intercourse done around ovulation days.In 28 days menstruation cycle ovulation occurs around 14th day. I suggest to go for intercourse between 12th to 17th day. Before 12th day maintain abstinence to increase density of sperms in semen.

You should relax for a while. Do not be anxious about your sexual capability. Give your self time and relax.Try after 2 days rest. And now when you attempt , do not think abut erection just enjoy the romance and foreplay. Erection will happen automatically and you would be able to do successful intercourse.

In any case if you fail , treatment is there for erectile dysfunction. So no need to worry at all.

Let me know last menstrual date of your wife.

Hope I have answered your query , I will be happy to help further.

Regards,

Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Hi Doctor

Thanks for your reply and I am able to feel light difference now. My wife's mensturation date is 10th of April. She is in siphene from 2-6 days and duphaston from 16-25th day. Her last cycles were on 12th of march and 10th of February and her cycle is for 30 days. We were unable to have our intercourse from 20th day due to the above reported issue.

Please advice.

Brief Answer:
Try after 14 days of next period, avoid sex before that

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for follow up.

Her probable next period date is 10th May(it may vary 1 or 2 days). Considering 10th May you should have maximum intercourse between 24th May to 28th May. Avoid sex or masturbation from 20th to 24th May completely to increase sperm density. After sex ask her to remain in supine position for at least 2 hours with legs elevated.Put pillows below her feet. This will help semen to reach deep in uterus.

Be relax and enjoy the process without thinking of success.

All the best and GOD bless you.
