Suggest Treatment For Enlarged Left Testicle

default
Posted on Fri, 30 Jun 2017
Question: My left testicle has enlarged by two to two and a half times the size of my right testicle. There have been some changes in that area over the last month, but I really began to notice in the last 3 or 4 days.
I am 55 years old this year and in good health. Doesn't hurt but it is concerning.

Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr. XXXXXXX

Any change in size of the testes or scrotum should be checked out in person, so I am definitely recommending that you see your doctor.

Possible causes range from benign things like an inguinal hernia on the side that's enlarged, to a tumor. Testicular cancer is more common in men under 40, but it is still a possibility at other ages.

An inguinal hernia sometimes feels a little bit like a balloon. A tumor on the testis can feel like a separate lump on it.

It can also be a cyst in the epididymis (spermatocele), or if there was an injury, a collection of blood or fluid.

So... most causes in men your age are benign, but it is still very important to get checked as soon as possible. Your doctor will likely send you for an ultrasound which will give more information.

I hope this information gives you enough information to go in and get checked. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
