Question: I have a high creatinine level. Does diphenhydramine HCL 25 mg a cause of that?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Ravi Bansal (29 hours later)
Brief Answer:
diphenhydramine is safe

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

if you have a serum creatinine of 1.5 it shows that you have early kidney damage. As per information provided by you pain killers are a common cause of renal damage and you have rightly stopped them . for pain you should take paracetamol or tramadol.

diphenhydramine HCL is safe for renal patients is has no renal toxicity

other ways to decrease your creatinine-

1. critical analysis of all your medicines by your doctor to see if any nephrotoxic effect is there from any medicine.

also your treating doctor can identify any acute disease factor contributing to rise in serum creatinine.

2. better BP control 130/80 or less under guidance of your doctor.

3. cut down on meat intake - 0.8 gm/kg / day protein intake. So try to avoid meat products .

there is other way to reduce serum creatinine.

best wishes.

I forgot to mention that I also have about a table spoon of Whey protein powder with my cereal in the morning. Can this be affecting my creatinine level and should I avoid it?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Ravi Bansal (9 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Protein intake is guided by body wt

Detailed Answer:
hi, protein intake should be 0.8gm/ kgper day. if your body will is 60 kg you can take 50 Gm protein/ day. whatever be the source. if you take more protein you can increase injury to the kidney.

curd and milk can be taken.

only restrictions are meat - to keep protein in check. salt intake should be less and avoid juices and tobacco products.

best wishes.
