Brief Answer:
Could you please elaborate on the problem

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I am sorry to know about your daughter. But I would request you to discuss the matter in greater details. I need to know if the onset of ear pain is sudden, was it associated with cough and cold, whether there was discharge from the ears and whether you have seen a doctor. Giving Calpol is the right thing to be done to reduce the ear pain.

Let me know the details and I would guide you further.

Yes the onset pain is due to cold calf followed by slight fever. There is no discharge and I haven't visited the doctor yet. May be the pain is due to cold but she doesn't have running nose either.

Brief Answer:
Steam inhalation is the solution to look for

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back and for clarifying.

There is an internal connection between the middle ear and the inner throat on each side. When we catch cold, these tubes might get blocked and therefore the air pressure inside the middle ear might go out of balance thus giving rise to pain. I would insist you to give her steam inhalation. It will help in diluting the mucus blocking these tubes and would thus provide relief.

Hope that helps.

Brief Answer:
Paracetamol is a very safe pain killer unlike others

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Calpol contains paracetamol. It is safe and can be given if there is pain. I would prefer to give it.
