Suggest Treatment For Dry Patch On Upper Lip And Post-inflammatory Hypopigmentation

Question: Hi, I had a dry patch on the upper lip. It's a small circular area near the center part of my upper lip not on a full lip.it got dried and I peeled off but t color s not restored. Tat circular area alone looks light color. I consulted Dr... And told to use picon 1% cream...Will my upper lip area b restored to normal colr??

Hi and thanks for your query.

It seems to be post-inflammatory hypopigmentation or just eczema. Your doctor has prescribed picon cream which is effective to reduce the inflammation in eczema. You can apply the cream as prescribed on the affected area. Thicker creams like penaten also help. May also need steroidal preparations.

If the lesion heals, hypopigmentation will slowly merge with surrounding skin colour in some months and will become unnoticable.

If the lesion recurs then the hypopigmentation will come back again.

Thus you will need to keep patience.
