Suggest Treatment For Difficulty In Conceiving When Diagnosed With PCOS

Question: Hello Iam 20 years old trying to get pregnant. I have pcos .. I have irregular period (once each 40 days) my doctor gave me 1 clomid/day from 2nd of period to 6th and ovestin from 7th to 16th.. I stopped taking ovestin on my 14th day as there was no signs of pregnancy.. Now my doctor gave me duphaston to get my period and start a new dose of clomid. 2clomid per day .. Now Iam on my 16th day of cycle and taking duphaston.!!! Another doctor told me to just chill and only take duphaston for 3 month.. I don't know what to do as Iam in a pressure to get pregnant please help me

Hi dear,
I have gone though your question and understand your concerns.
Your doctor is giving you ovulation induction with clomiphene, in increasing dosage and this is the appropriate treatment in a patient with PCOS with infertility.
Only duphaston intake is unlikely to help you get pregnant, as it is a progesterone which makes the uterine environment more favorable for conception, but do not helps alone in PCOS patient.
I suggest you to continue for ovulation induction for at least 6 cycles to conceive.
If there is no pregnancy after 6 months, you should then go for ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination (IUI).

But the problem is not with him. The doctor said that with pcos i have multiple eggs and none of them is big enough . So he is planing to increase my dose of clomid to see if they will grow more? Is that helpful as iam only 20 i need a well explained question as iam stressing a lot

The protocol for treatment of infertility in PCOS patients is stepwise, where the next step is followed when the previous step fails:
1. Ovulation induction with drugs, in increasing dosage, for at least 6 months
2. Intrauterine insemination with ovulation induction
3. In vitro fertilization( IVF).
Your doctor is completely correct in giving you the increasing dose of ovulation induction.
Intrauterine insemination is not only done for semen problems, rather it is done when one fails to conceive naturally even on ovulation induction, and is one of the common procedure done in PCOS patients.
Clomiphene is the drug of choice for initial ovulation induction, as it has minimal side effects.
