Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Diabetes in pregnancy can be due to:
1. Pre existing diabetes
2. Gestational diabetes mellitus.

In both of the conditions, insulin therapy is the best treatment.
I personally don't prefer to use Metformin in cases of pregnancy as its safety profile is doubt full.
HbA1c gives an average estimation of blood sugar status of 3 months.
So once you start on treatment repetition is required after minimum 3 months of treatment.
My sincere concern is to control blood sugars. This can be done easily with insulin only.
Your dosage would require modifications according to your pre meal blood sugar status.
Discuss with your physician to modify the dosage.
If you have any further query please ask me.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Friend.
See you can't stop the carb or anything completely in diet as your baby needs nutrition and you are the only source for him.
In general avoid rice, sweets, potato, XXXXXXX banana, carbonated drinks.
Avoid over eating.
If you have any further query please ask me.
