Brief Answer:
Quitting smoking will help to heal faster.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for posting your question to HCM.

I read carefully your question and understand your concern.

Yes, quitting smoking may help to reduce the post nasal drip, but not always. Though, you have now reduced one of the factors that kept you away from healing. Congratulations on this important first step.

Some things you may do to reduce symptoms and heal faster are:
-- Nose lavage with saline water, twice/day which will lower the swelling in the nostrils and so reduce secretion production together with thorough cleaning.
-- Drink plenty of water, which will soften the secretions.
-- Use a steroid spray, Beconase is one you can use, twice/day for one month, until the post nasal drip goes away.

Hope this is helpful.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Take care,
Dr. Papaqako
