Suggest Treatment For Constipation Along With Thin Stools

Question: Have diverticulitis. Constipation. Difficulty passing stools- have to push against the back of the toilet seat to produce anything. All I get is a rash of pencil thin stools of various length. MiraLax helps but stools remain the same . Help!
