I am sorry to hear that you have a compression fracture in your back. You have been recommend to have a vertebroplasty. This is where they inject a cement into the broken vertebra. The cement helps stop the pain and stabilize the spine. If you are not in pain then there is no reason to have the procedure. There are significant side effects including allergic reactions to the cement. There can also be infection increased back pain and rarely paralysis. I would discuss these complications with your provider prior to undergoing the procedure. The complication rate is rare less than 3%.
