Question: Our baby is about 1 month old. Baby was infected with cold for few days and used to sneeze which has almost stopped now. Today morning we felt baby temperature might have increased when we held him in hands but after tested in Thermometer it showed 36 d which is normal.

My questions are:
Whenever baby's temperature is running high, What are the medications prescribed for a 1 to 2 months old baby ?

I heard about medomol and calpol medicines. when and what age are these medicines advisable for infants?

Brief Answer:
Calpol is safe

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthCareMagic. For a one month old child, sneezing, coughing and hiccups are normal and there is nothing to worry about it. If the temperature increases, try unwrapping the child and keeping open. Most of the times, temperature will normalise. If it does not, it could indicate infection. Generally in case of an infection, the major symptom is the child not feeding well and becoming lethargic. If such a thing happens, rush to the doctor and get the blood tested. If not, you may relax and try calpol syrup or drops at home. Calpol contains paracetamol which is a very safe drug and can be given to a child of even 1 day of age. It is given in the dose of 15 mg/kg/dose at a minimum interval of 3-4 hours. Since I do not know the weight of your child, I am unable to give you the exact dose in ml.
