Brief Answer:
Over the counter Antihistamine helps.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Cold and cough symptoms are likely due to inflammation of throat (like pharyngitis probably).

You are likely to be having viral throat infection with cold.

But I would like to know some more information,

1) Do you have painful swallowing?
2) Are you having dry cough or cough with expectoration (mucus)?
3) Any fever or body pain?
4) Any nasal symptoms like runny nose or blocked nose?

However, Over the counter Antihistamines (like levo-cetrizine 10 mg) twice daily could be helpful for cold and cough.

Steam inhalation with warm salt water gargles will also be helpful for symptomatic relief.

And please get back to me with more information as I asked.

Thanks and Regards,

Brief Answer:
Likely viral infection of throat.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the quick follow-up.

Since you do not have pain or fever, I would first keep the possibility of viral infection of throat.

You may take below mentioned symptomatic treatment. It would be helpful.

1) Take tablet Mucinex-Dm (available OTC) twice daily which contains Dextromethorphan which is a cough suppressant in combination with Guaifenesin which is an expectorant and helps to loosen congestion in your throat and making it easier to cough out mucus/phlegm.

Antihistamine (levocetrizine) twice daily can also be continued as I suggested earlier.

2) Nebulizer (with budesonide respules) 3 to 4 times a day will also be helpful to prevent further episodes of coughing.

3) Steam inhalation will loosen the cough, making easier to expel out the mucus through mouth.

4) Drink plenty of fluids and avoid cold water or any other cold products like ice-cream etc.

5) Over the counter pain killer (like Aleve) or ibuprofen 400 mg if you feel pain in throat.

With this symptomatic treatment, your coughing will improve gradually as the inflammation starts to subside.

Hope this will help you.Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks and Regards,
