Suggest Treatment For Chronic Psoriasis And Constipation

default
Posted on Thu, 13 Apr 2017
Question: I am a 57 year old female with MS and chronic psoriasis which is under control with Humira. I don't know if I didn't notice till today or when it started, but when I got out of the shower today I noticed red spots mainly on my torso but a few on my butt and legs. A couple on my arms, but none on my face. They do not look like psoriasis. Most are under my breasts. I have not switched soaps or meds. The only thing I've done different lately is I've started on Equate brand Metamucil to aid in constipation due to dieting. The spots don't itch. I took a couple Benadryl a few minutes ago and will keep an eye on it. Can I still take my Amitriptyline before bed to sleep? I seemed to remember a time I couldn't take both during the day. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
No. Benadryl will help with sleep tonight.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Benadryl would help with sleep and there is no added value to take amitriptyline. In fact, taking both might raise worries about possible overdose of sleep aids. If possible, upload an image of your trio to me for review and more insights on these lesions that you have reported.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and hope to hear back from you.

My main concern was not so much about the Benadryl, as it was about the rash and if the Metamucil is something that could cause an allergic reaction. And also why the majority of the rash is on my torso. I took 2 Benadryl a couple hours ago and haven't seen any improvement yet. I assume I can get my Humira shot as usual tonight (?). Thank you!

I don't know why the images are not going through. I am using Benadryl and the spots are still there but no newer ones. I have my annual physical on Friday so will talk to my GP then. Thank you for your assistance and your caring!
