Brief Answer:
Get done PFT.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, in my opinion you are mostly having bronchitis.
It is common in smokers.
It is due to inflammation and irritation from cigarette smoke.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test) to rule out bronchitis.
It will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment of bronchitis is based on severity only.
Also stop relent syrup. It is having ambroxol. Ambroxol is expectorant. So this can also cause dry coughing.
Please let me know
1. Since how long you smoke?
2. How many cigarettes you smoke per day?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Avoid relent syrup.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
No need to worry much for your cough.
Avoid relent syrup, as it is having ambroxol.
Ambroxol is mucolytic and expectorant.
It is given in coughing with expectoration, to make secretions easy to come out.
Since you are having dry cough, no need for mucolytic and expectorant (ambroxol).
Better to start cough suppressant syrup.
Do you have burning epigastric pain at night?
Do you have belching?
Do you have acidity problem?
Please reply me answers of above asked questions, so that I can guide you better.
I will be happy to help you further.

Thanks for your follow up question on HCM.
In my opinion, you are mostly having upper respiratory tract infection as you are having dry coughing and throat irritation.
So do as follows.
1. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
2. Do warm water gargles 5-6 times a day.
3. Start antihistamine and anti inflammatory drugs.
4. Avoid hard to chew food.
5. Avoid oily and spicy food.
6. Also start cough suppressant syrup.
You will mostly improve in 1 week.
Hope I have solved your query.
