Question: 2 months ago I switched from XXXXXXX his to sere quell. I seemed to be fine for several weeks then I started coughing and have had trouble breathing. Quit sere quell 1 week ago and felt a little better but still have coughing and breathing problems. Usually one a day I breathe so bad I need to keep my mouth open as I am gasping for air had a pulse ox done and the said it was good. Have a pluminary test scheduled but not until month end. From time to time seem to feel a little something in left lung when I laugh or cough. XXXXXXX tired and I just woke up and had coffee. Normally when my wife and I go out I walk ahead oh her but have been lagging behind lately. Smoked for 30 years. Wonder if I need X-ray or blood test to determine if cancer. See no yellow in face or eyes or swelling in legs or feet

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. You require investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details.

You are suffering from chronic cough and breathlessness. These symptoms may or may not be related to cancer.

I would like to know whether you are having blood in sputum also and loss of weight and appetite. If yes, then these can be related to cancer. Moreover you also have strong history of smoking.
I would advise you to undergo a chest X-ray first. Also an echocardiography of the chest may be required to look for any heart related causes of breathlessness.

If your symptoms do not improve then a CECT scan of the chest can be done to look for any malignancy .

Blood tests won't tell you about the cancer of the lung.
Feel free to ask further.
Thanks and regards

Yesterday I breathed through my nose most of the day and felt pretty good and had a good amount of energy and was coughing less as well. Today so far breathing okay. I also did not have an episode of about 15-20 minutes where I open my mouth and feel like I am gassing for air. So wondering if my breathing is stress or heart related. My ventolin inhaler does not seem to help much if at all when I have an acute episode

Brief Answer:
HEllo dear. It may be related to stress.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. It may be possible that your symptoms are related to stress. However, i will still advise you to undergo a chest xray to rule out any disease process.
Inhaler only works in episodes of asthma and hence wont work in such a situation.
Please get a chest xray done.
Thanks and regards
