Suggest Treatment For Chronic Constipation And Flatulence

default
Posted on Fri, 18 Aug 2017
Question: I have had chronic constipation for over 20 years. I had a colonoscopy a year ago and everything was fine. I was told I had a sluggish colon. I was given Linzess. The medicine did not work after 6 months. I went back to the doctor and was told to continue the laxatives when needed. I have had minimal bowel output in two weeks. A few days ago I started with a fleet enima and consumed a bottle magnesium citrate. This only moved a minimal of output. I am now trying a colon cleanse. I have no pain just bloating and gas.
Any suggestions

Brief Answer:
Fiber intake needs to be increased

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Healthcaremagic.

I have gone through the details carefully. The entire presentation seems to sum up to one single cause i.e. slowing down of the bowel movements.

Our bowels have a forward propulsive movement which moves the food forward as it is digested, absorbed and finally eliminated as feces. The key lies in regularization of the same.

My suggestions would be to:
* Avoid long gaps between meals. Take small but frequent meals.
* Spicy food has to be avoided.
* It is very important to exercise regularly.

* High dietary fiber intake has to be ensured. Plenty of green leafy vegetables is to be taken. Fiber supplements like psyllium husk can also be taken along. This has to be taken daily at dinner irrespective of whether the problems are present. Restoralax can be taken.

Hopefully, that would help.

Regards
