Suggest Treatment For Chronic IBS And Vitamin Deficiency

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Nov 2016
Question: I have chronic IBS & pernicious anemia & B12, D vitamin deficiency as a result of colon tumor (benign) removed 20 yrs ago (the tumor attached & ripped my uterus & bladder loose & gangrene). Since March my abdomen is not "the same". The intense pain is higher than before, I'm incontinent with the pain, I've lost 80lbs, and unable to eat or drink. What's wrong with me? I've seen my GP & she says it "will declare itself" eventually. I don't want to feel this way anymore.

My weight loss of 80 lbs has been since March of this year to now. Why?

Brief Answer:
Recurrence of colon tumor

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,

I have gone through your question and understand your concern.

Symptoms you have mentioned are more likely towards recurrence of the disease which you had earlier.
Coming to the pernicious anemia common cause for that is vitamin b12 deficiency, even though the colon tumor which you have diagnosed earlier has a chance of recurrence and if it involves the surrounding organs it will have such symptoms which you have mentioned and weight loss is one among them. Sudden weight loss always needs evaluation and I will suggest some investigations which you need to undergo as soon as possible.
- Complete blood picture
- urine culture
- Stool culture
- Vitamin B 12
- Vitamin D
- Ultrasound abdomen
- Carcino Embriogenic Antigen

Please have those tests and get back to us or consult a gastroenterologist for further examination. For incontinence you can do pelvic floor exercises. But if the tumor is involving bladder then you will have incontinence and thats the reason I am asking you for a review. As you are having intense pain along with other symptoms you need to take tablet.ranitidine and tablet.meftal spass to control pain.

Hope this answers your query. Get back if you have more.

Redards,
Dr.Alekhya.
