Question: HI,

My father is 75 yr old, he is heart and diabetic patient and had gone under TURP surgey 3 month back. After surgery everything is fine but since last 1 month he is complaining about burning in urethra. We went to urosurgeon and he prescribed him Norflox, XXXXXXX and urospas but nothing happens. Still my father is complaining about burning in urethra. We have also done cystoscopy where doctor gave his remark as stenosed BNI but his urine flow is good.

Please suggest can we go to dermatologist or urosurgeon.

Brief Answer:
Do urine evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

The cystoscopy is almost normal(mild degree of stenosis is common following TURP)

First we have to rule out any urinary tract infection resistant to the antibiotics you were already given.
So, before going for further evaluation, it will be fine if we can get a urine microscopy and urine culture sensitivity test. This will detect any resistant infection and the exact antibiotic to be given.

If this detect any infection, your primary care physician can help you.
Otherwise, you will have to stick on to your urologist.
As there is no any lesion or urethral discharge, there is no need of dermatologist evaluation.

I hope, this will answer your query.
Wishing for a faster cure.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
what urine test?

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

What urine test he had?
Is it just a routine examination, or included culture sensitivity test also?
If not already done, culture sensitivity test is important in this situation.
If possible, kindly upload a copy of the urine report so I can help you further.
Waiting for reply.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
kindly do culture sensitivity test also

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Sorry for the delay. I was a bit busy today.

I have gone through the urine report.
It included physical, chemical and microscopic examination, and the result was almost normal except for few pus cells.
But,unfortunately the most important investigation in this clinical picture-urine culture and sensitivity test-is missing.
Before going for further evaluation, let's do this basic investigation.

Hope this answer will be helpful.
Thank you.
