Question: My 15 year old daughter is a hockey player, she sometimes after a hard intense tryout or work out she gets blurry vision and then a headache and all she wants to do is sleep. the light bothers her eyes. She did not hit her head. This has happened before so I make sure she eats and drinks lots of water the day previous and before work out. Is this something more serious?

she is 5'4 107 pounds 15 years old

Brief Answer:
Primary exercise headache.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

It is a known phenomenon for exercise to trigger headaches usually of a pulsating type, lasting under 48 hours. The mechanism is not well known, thought to be due to distension of blood vessels from exercise.
When it is the first episode it has to be thought about serious causes like subarachnoid hemorrhage or arterial dissection, but since this is a recurring thing that doesn't seem to be the case and I don't think you should worry.
If it is a regular thing after exercise preventive treatment before starting exercise may be used, usually indomethacine is effective.

Otherwise the measures you mention are the correct one, good hydration and eating, a good long warm up prior and after exercising, increasing intensity very gradually.

I hope to have been of help.
