What Causes Intermittent Severe Radiating Headaches Long After Treating A Subarachnoid Hemorrhage?

Question: Thank You, I woke up with a severe pain in the back of my neck. I get these from time to time. 15 years or so ago I suffered a Subaracknoid Hemorrage. I worry about these bad headaches as they always go to the back of my neck, right side or both sides. Tonight was both sides.

I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist, here to answer your query.

As you keep having recurrent headache and with a background history of Subarachnoid hemorrhage, I would suggest you to get a fresh brain MRI done. You should consult your neurosurgeon with previous as well as current scan and if the need arises, a brain angiogram may also be done.
Although, headache episodes can be primary headache as well, its better to rule out anything major.
