Brief Answer:
Ear barotrauma. Ear examination. Medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. This is ear barotrauma which Is common after a flight during a cold.

2. If you consult an ENT Specialist, the ear drum can be examined. An Impedance Audiometry will show the middle ear pressures.

3. Medication consists of anti allergic decongestants, anti inflammatory medication and steam inhalation.

4. If you cannot get examined immediately, use OTC Nasal decongestant drops ( 0.1 % Xylometazoline ) can be used (3-4 drops in the affected side of the nose) twice a day. Plain Steam inhalation will help.

5. Very high negative ear pressures or fluid in the middle ear may require a Myringotomy.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
