Suggest Treatment For Blisters On The Legs Post A Hernia Surgery

default
Posted on Mon, 15 May 2017
Question: I had hernia surgery several years ago. They had to do a mesh implant. Not along after the surgery I started breaking out between my legs with little blisters and they would burst and I was told it had nothing to do with the mesh implant that is was jock itch. It still breaks out and I put meds on it and it clears for a few days then breaks out again and smells awful. I feel like it is something to do with the implant but have not been able to get any help or ideas of what I am dealing with. I have never had anything like this before until I had the surgery. The hernia was in my groin area and I was bruised very bad in fact the bruising was really bad in my groin and all the way down almost to my knees.

Brief Answer:
Not related to hernia or mesh implant.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic.
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.

As per your description it seems that you are having jock itch (a kind of fungal infection) over your inner thigh. It is not related to mesh implant or hernia repair.
Mesh implant does not cause itchy blisters in thigh.
You are having recurrent attacks of symptoms may be due to improper treatment. As I said jock itch is a superficial fungal infection and it can cause repeated bouts of attacks unless a proper treatment is taken.
We have to rule out conditions like contact dermatitis and eczema before stating the treatment.

I suggest you to consult a dermatologist to make a confirmed diagnosis. Scrapings from your lesion may be taken and examined under the microscope to make a diagnosis.
You need topical antifungal creams and oral drugs like fluconazole to tackle the fungal infection.
Check your blood sugar level to rule out diabetes.

Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks.
