Suggest Treatment For Balanitis

default
Posted on Sat, 25 Jun 2016
Question: Hello, can someone help me out.
A doctor diagnosed me with balanitis about a month ago and I have been taking ampicillin to treat it and applying hydrocortisone to the area. Around that time I also go this weird bump on my foreskin that looks like a pimple but it's not reddish and doesn't hurt.

A little more details about me.
I work at an office so I'm sitting at a chair 9 hours a day, after work I usually go to the gym and workout for about 2 hours.
Since the doctor diagnosed balanitis I have not had any sex since I don't want to risk it.
I attached a picture of the ointments I have been using also.
Usually after I urinate I wipe my penis off with a piece of toilet paper so no urine gets trapped under the foreskin.
I'm not sure if I'm over cleaning it causing more irritation.

Brief Answer:
Could be an imbalance caused by overuse of antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Although the presentation from the picture does not really look like anything we should be worried about, a slight discolouration there could be due to overuse of antibiotics in the region.

Have you been applying neosporin and/or other antibiotics topically over the region as well?

If so, then this could have caused an imbalance which could have resulted in the initiation of a fungal/yeast; I would recommend the use clotrimazole cream over the region twice daily for 10 days at least. Also, try and avoid overuse of antibiotics, and just use the oral tablets prescribed for the course prescribed by your doctor, no need of any topical application at the moment sir.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.
