Question: recovering from acute colitis, there was pain in left. Lower abdomen... getting dressed..& breathing different on left side..looks slimmer too .is this normal?

I read your question and I understand your concern. Acute colitis results in pain in left lower quadrant and it is human nature that it compensates the pain by slight posturing of its body . That so called difference in breathing and size is a relative thing and is normal. Once the colitis is resolved and the pain is subsided the so called difference of size sd breathing patterns on left side shall also resolve. Just focus on the management of colitis and do as directed. No worries for this apparent change.
