Question: Hello! Just checking in.

Im continuing to recover from panic disorder and ocd and im finding that stmptoms are fading overall except my head still feels very sensitive to stress and anxiety and im very fatigued lately. Lots of anxious thoughts still come but i dont get as wrapped up in them as i used to at all.

Do you think this is normal as someone recovers from truly 4 years of intense panic/anxiety?

And will my head become more resilient and my energy return eventuslly? It feels like adrenal fatigue now! My therapist says it can take many many months. Especislly without much of an ssri.

Brief Answer:
Yes it is normal and part of process

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

First of all I must congratulate you for taking this bold but needed step to deal with anxiety without use of no or minimal medications.

As discussed in the past recovery from years of anxiety and panic attacks is a process rather than a overnight event. I am glad to know that despite the initial obstacles you are moving slowly but steadily toward the recovery process with no SSRI medications.

I would like to state that every symptoms have its resistance and they take variable time to recover. For example intrusive thoughts of anxiety and self doubt often take more time than the specific anxiety about some event or object.

I must again state that your psychiatrist is right in helping you out and providing correct information. It is correct to state that it takes month but it is also correct that things can be dealt without any medications.

I hope this answers you and specially reassures you about the process.

Thank you! Funny you mention the intrusive anxiety... the past few days i have felt a big uptick in it in my head but i dont feel like ive been extra stressed, things are actually great excelt fir these stubborn feelings. I feel my brain scanning for things to say "what if" about. Its quite uncomfortable. I can go about my day but theres a cloud of doubt and apprehensio... thats not coming down with schizophrenia or bi-polar right? Its just the brain on high alert?

I assume if i just keep going itll eventually go away again. n

Hello,
Thanks for follow up.

There is no reason to believe that you have either schizophrenia or bipolar response.

The nature of symptoms in form of heightened anxiety and panic attacks along with history of excellent response with with antidepressant group of medications almost rules out the possibility of these disorders.

I understand that intrusive thoughts are funny but often annoying and test the capability of individual to deal these issues. However there are good reasons to believe that with persistent efforts these can be managed over time.

I hope this helps you further.

Ok. Now this is why i get scared of bipolar.

I just went through 3-4 days of extreme exhaustion. No depression... but just really tired.

And this morning i woke up like i had 5 cups of coffee with my nerves all sensitive and my mind racing with all my old anxious thoughts.

When im this uneven it feels like i could go crazy.

Why doesnt having energy feel good? Its always exhaustion or anxious energy .

Brief Answer:
The same can happen in anxiety

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for follow up.

Having energy is good feeling but the presence of racing thoughts of anxious nature is probably responsible for not wanting to have this experiences. On the other account these anxious thoughts leads to exhaustion rather than pleasurable feeling.

Moreover such racing thoughts of anxious nature are indicative of anxiety rather than bipolar disorder.

I hope this clarifies.
Thanks again.
