Suggest Treatment For OCD Symptoms

Question: I am on Lexapro 40 mg, Solian (amisulpride) 100mg, Klonopin 2mg and since four days on Keppra 1500 mg (750 at morning and 750 at evening, i was before on 1000 mg). I have problems with some OCD symptoms. During two days i was feeling better, but the next two days i was like before the higher dosage of Keppra or even a little bit worse. I was told here that i have to wait two or three weeks to see improvement, but i would like to know if it's normal to feel the same or even a little bit worsening after the first two days with a new dosage of Keppra. It's the same when i receive a higher dosage of Lexapro (from 30 to 40 mg, for example), at the beginning some times i feel a little bit worse.
Thanks beforehand!

Brief Answer:
It happens sometimes but not always

Detailed Answer:
Hi, Thanks for your direct question to me.

When a person is given some medication, s/he develops some side effects initially due to drug, because it is new to the body and it makes changes in some physiological function.

Like when you have taken lexapro for the first time you might have experience some strange feelings in head, heaviness, dizziness, gastric upset, some interference with sleep etc. this is normal. Once 1 to 2 weeks has passed these effects will wean gradually.

I have seen that some of my patients also develop the similar initial side effects to increased dose of the same drugs. So what you are experiencing may be the initial side effects of the drug and you have same feeling with the lexapro also.

Here, your pharmacokinetics and metabolism will be complicated little bit because you have higher dose of keppra which itself will produce some side effects and finally after few day it will start increasing the plasma level of lexapro, so it can produce some additional side effects. But with my experience I can say that these side effects wont last long.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further questions feel free to ask. Wishing you good health.
