Brief Answer:
PVC is out of turn contraction of the heart chambers (ventricles)

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Premature ventricular contractions (PVC) is a condition when there are extra heart lower chambers (ventricles) due to certain causes. The extra heart contraction occurs between two normal heart beats and can often be felt like an odd beat or skipped beats.

The causes for PVC can be one of the following.
1. Chemical changes or imbalances in the body
2. Certain medications, including common asthma medications
3. Alcohol or illegal drugs
4. Increased levels of adrenaline in the body that may be caused by caffeine, tobacco, exercise or anxiety
5. Injury to the heart muscle from coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease, high blood pressure or heart failure

The seriousness of PVC depends on any underlying heart related condition causing it. In due course it can cause heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias) or weakening of the heart muscle (cardiomyopathy). If the heart rhythm get abnormally high then this can can be a dangerous situation.

Treatment includes many options as given below
(i) Making changes in your lifestyle to avoid PVC. This can be controlled by decreasing tobacco and caffeine.
(ii) Medications like beta blockers and calcium channel blockers can minimize evolution of PVC.
(iii) Radio frequency ablation is a treatment of choice when medications and lifestyle changes do not help controlling the symptoms.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
