Breath test and blood test can detect the agent in body after exposure!!!

I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

Tetrachloroethylene or Perchloroethylene is a substance used in laundries for dry cleaning the clothes. It is also a constituent of degreaser liquids and stain removers. It is a volatile substance and can be absorbed from human skin and also can go inside body through inhaled air to the lungs. From lungs it goes to blood and also dissolves in body fats.

It is a dangerous chemical and is banned in many states of US due to its carcinogenic and devastating effects on human health.

Coming to your query:
1. It can be detected in the breath test same as we do urea breath test or drug alcohol test in breath.
2. Perchloroethylene and its breakdown products can easily be detected in the blood.

In my view the ppm limit shouldn't be exceeded from 40 ppm as 100 is more than safer limit and if we take US based duty hours of 8 hours per day then 100 ppm is dangerous too. And you are talking about 15000 the safe limits. Employees may file a lawsuit against that company if they really kept you exposed to that much limit. In Michigan even we have check and balances now and noone can expose the workers to this much high ppm of group 2A Carcinogenic volatile chemical.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. Please give your 'rating' (if agreed, Five Stars) to help me assist patients in a better way; and, please don't forget to click on 'Close The Discussion'.

Brief Answer:
Urologist consultation is needed for proper evaluation of etiology!

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for contacting me back with a follow up query. I am more than happy to assist you in this regard.

Actually, kidney may have a disease due to many countless reasons and it is Urologist/and/or Nephrologist who is trained to find out the cause of a specific kidney disease. According to etiology, he can manage the disease. It is very important to establish chemical exposure injury to be the cause of your kidney issues in the first place.

As far as elimination of this chemical from body is concerned, with passage of time and keeping yourself away from the source of exposure, will definitely nullify its effects unless some irreversible damage is caused by it.

Keeping a physical activity on regular basis helps get better results.

Keep a judicious supply of water and fluids and remain hydrated. In this way chemicals and its degradation products can better be washed away from body.

Keep a balanced and healthy natural food for getting detoxification of the effects of chemical exposure. Fruits and vegetables are best in this regard.
