Brief Answer:
Asthma needs multi modality treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, XXXXXX, I am Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar. I am a practising pulmonolgist in XXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Asthma needs multi modality treatment. It is an allergic disease triggered by an allergen. So identification of allergen and avoidance is must. Common allergens are pollens, mites, dust, dendrites etc. So identify the allergen which triggers asthma. MSM is MethylSulphonylMethan. It is sulfa compound. And sulfa drugs are known for allergy. It is commonly used in constipation and ulcer treatment. So after taking this, if you feel bad than you should avoid it. You may have allergy to it.

Don't keep pets at home since their hair can cause asthma.

Take inhaled medications in the form of meter dose inhalers. Long acting Beta 2 agonist with inhaled corticosteroids are the mainstay of treatment. Oral theophyllin can also be used as added drug.
Regular monitoring of your asthma with Peak Flow Meter is must. It is like thermometer of asthma.
Newer anti IgE therapy is also available.
Do take your thyroid drug regularly (synthyroid).
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to solve other queries if you have. Wish you good health.
