Question: My fiancé has always been a eery active person, loves to work in the yard but in the last few months her energy level has dropped. She could sleep 20 hours a day--her reactions have slowed and she seems to loose her balance more.

Brief Answer:
Hypothyroidism needs to be excluded

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the details. The first thing that I would suggest is to get a thyroid profile done. The thyroid is a gland that secretes a hormone called thyroxine which controls our metabolism. Since her activity is reduced, it is possible that she is suffering from hypothyroidism. In such a case, suitable treatment would make a difference. I would also suggest you to check her fasting blood sugar alongwith.

You can post the results using the facility on the upper right of this page.
