Suggest Remedy For Sore Throat And Stuffed Nose After A Dental Work

default
Posted on Tue, 22 Dec 2015
Question: yesterday I had a rooting and scaling done at the dentist, along with 2 fillings. it has been a while since I had any kind of dental work. I woke up this morning with a sore throat that seems to progressively get worse throughout the day. no fever, just a little bit of stuffy nose. I am concerned that I developed some sort of infection from the dentistry work. would I have symptoms right away? my dental work was yesterday at around 2 pm.

Brief Answer:
Seems like throat infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems like you have infection in throat leading to sore throat..
It might be due to infection from the site of Dental work reaching the throat..
Nothing to worry as there seems nothing serious..
You can do warm saline gargles..
Take Acetaminophen for pain..
Suck throat lozenges..
Do steam inhalation as it will help in clearing the nose as well as soothe your throat..

In case of still the symptoms seems to be progressing or there is no relief on next 3 to 4 days consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated..
He can test you for the type of infection that is either bacterial or Viral and advise you medication accordingly..

Any further questions are welcome..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.

I guess I read too many things on the Internet and was concerned about possible blood infection from the dental work, but I think the symptoms would be different than just a sore throat and stuffy nose.

Brief Answer:
Does not look like Blood infection...

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome Again..

It is correct that in a few cases infection from the dental treatment site can enter blood causing Septicemia..
But the symptoms of Septicemia are severe enough and can lead to high fever, chills and other symptoms..
In your case it is not the condition.
It is a commonly occurring throat infection and will resolve soon..
Do not worry as there is nothing serious..

Any further questions are welcome..

Thanks and regards.
