Suggest Remedy For Shortness Of Breath And Nasal Congestion

Question: I am a 44 year old female. Bad allergies, SOB for last week. Got a shot of Kenalog-40 and also a shot of solumedrol. Allergies have stopped but SOB continues. I am in good health otherwise. I am treating my "cold" with supportive therapy, nasal decongestants, steam, etc. No swelling in lower extremities, vital signs stable. I have been taking protonix to see if the SOB is caused by GERD but that hasn't helped. What should I do? I do still have quite a bit of nasal congestion.

Brief Answer:
Start the following medication after a nasal examination.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, WElcome to HCM,

Thank you for your query, I can understand your concern..

1. Use OTC nasal decongestant drops (Xylometazoline 0.1%) twice a day for a couple of days. Avoid long therm use of these drops.

2. Get a nasal examination done and a prescription for an anti-histamine (such as Cetirizine, Fexofenadine) and an anti-leukotriene (such as Montelukast) once a day.

3. A steroid nasal spray (such as Mometasone) once a day can be started if there is no fever. These spays require a week of regular use to achieve full effects.

4. An anti-inflammatory medication should be started for 2-3 days.

5. You should inform your doctor and get a prescription of those medications.

6. Please Upload your examination results and the effect of this treatment.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
